The 5-year long “Land Management Comprehensive Workshop” program cooperated by China Land Surveying and Planning Institute and Queensland Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Water (the former Department of Natural Resources, mines and energy), which is to be held 2times per year, was honored the “Highly Commended Departmental Excellence Award, 2005” by Queensland government, Australia in 2006. The Australian peers promptly informed the institute of the news and highly praised the cooperation between the two parties.

The selection of the award recipients, which is conducted once a year, is mainly to commend the department who has made outstanding achievements and contributions. The whole nominated departments for each award will be reviewed by the state government. There were 4 awards established this year, including “Business Improvement Award”, “Engaging Communities and Stakeholders and Customer Service Excellence Award”, “Managing Our Resource Award” and “Leadership and Management Excellence Award”.

The concentrated efforts made by the Business Development Section of Land Tenure Information Examination Bureau of Queensland Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Water and Chinese Land Surveying and Planning Institute saw a success of organization and hosting of the “Integrated Land Management Training Program - China ” program. By systemically introducing to the officers from Chinese Ministry of Land and Resources and land administrators from concerned departments and agencies the Australian counterparts’ experiences and practice in land management and land registration in particular and showing their special technologies in land registration, space data, IT systemic support and management, the program promoted the cooperation and exchange between the two parties in land management field and turned out to be a successful case in which the Australian side offered services to satisfy customers throughout the world. For this, the program was honored the second award of the four, the “Engaging Communities and Stakeholders and Customer Service Excellence Award”.

The Chinese Land Surveying and Planning Institute, an executive organization in the program, has made all his efforts to work with his Australian counterparts and successfully held 4 series under the leadership of Department of International Cooperation and Department of Land trainingCadastral under our Ministry of Land and Resources since the commence of the program,. 96 special technicians servicing in land registration services from the state-owned land resource system have been trained. The effect produced proved to be very good and was mutually approbated by the both parties, commended to be a successful case of a cooperative training course.

After the success of the first tryour Ministry of Land and Resources officially signed the “Memorandum for Cooperation in Stated-owned Resource Management” with the Queensland Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Water in July of 2005. After that on the basis of the series I, the contents of the succedent series have been made proper adjustment and supplement make them more and more perfect for better and better effect to meet the needs of trainees
